Jamie Chapman was born and raised in West Michigan. She’s been weaving black ash baskets for more than two decades. Black ash basket weaving is a traditional woodland art taught to her by her parents, Jim and Jennie Brown. Jamie spends a considerable amount of time in wetlands as she harvests and prepares all her own materials. She considers it a blessing that she was born into a family that maintains the old basket weaving traditions.
