Chance Brown is an artist from rural Oklahoma. Growing up in Ardmore, Chance developed interests in the visual arts at an early age. Some of Brown's earliest memories around art entailed accompanying his mother to work and the artworks that covered the walls of homes she would work in. Throughout high school and college, Chance would spend several Spring Breaks going with The Chickasaw Nation to Belize and assist with anything from water storage in Boom Creek to creating a mural for the children at Indian Creek. One of his more atypical interests are classic R&B and funk bands. On a few occasions, Chance had given artwork to some of his musical heroes such as Eddie Levert of the O'Jays, Charlie Wilson of the GAP Band and Aretha Franklin.
Chance would go on to receive his bachelors in fine arts from East Central University and served the Chickasaw Nation for seven years, mostly in the capacity of the Exhibits and Gallery Coordinator. In this position, Brown was vital in displaying exhibits for prominent Southeastern and Woodland Tribal artists, as well as esteemed local artists in the community. It was at this time Chance would foster lasting relationships with artists in a multitude of artistic skillsets whether they be indigenous practice or representational landscape painting. Chance would relish these opportunities working closely with other artists and learning to understand the initial steps of creating a visual voice in a cultural capacity, while remaining authentic. Chance is currently attending graduate school at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a concentration in a master in Fine Arts.
